Pray on Purpose

The “Pray on Purpose” Campaign was an initiative for participants to not only commit to prayer for 30 days, but to commit to prayer on purpose.
The idea was launched on January 11, 2011 in alignment with the Awakening’s “Life on Purpose” 3-week series.  The “Pray on Purpose” Campaign challenged us to pray for 3 purposes: 1) Personal Life on Purpose; 2) The Awakening is a Ministry on Purpose; 3) Salvation of Three Others.
God assures us that prayer is effective and that He does hear our voice. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him" (1 John 5:14-15).
In the book of Matthew, we are able to read of Jesus’ confirmation of the idea behind the “Pray on Purpose” Campaign: "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him" (Matthew 6:5-8)
“Do not be like the hypocrites…do not [babble] like pagans”… pray with a purpose! God knows our hearts before we speak to Him. He is merely waiting for us to pray to Him in recognition of the purpose He has laid before us: to live a personal life on purpose for Him and to be an outwardly disciple on purpose for Him.
In the midst of our 30 days of the “Pray on Purpose” Campaign, how have you already seen God move in your life, in the Awakening ministry & community, or in the life of others?
We encourage you to share your stories!
If you haven’t already started the “Pray on Purpose” Campaign, you are never too late.
In Him,
